Webinar Series: Training on the Revised Controlled Wood Standard
Module 1: Introduction to the Revised Controlled Wood Standard
The Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) Controlled Wood Chain of Custody Standard (FSC-STD-40-005) has been revised in response to Policy Motion 51 “Strengthening the Controlled Wood System” passed by FSC’s Membership at the 2011 General Assembly. Policy Motion 51 and background on revisions to the Controlled Wood system are available here.
The revised Standard, Requirements for Sourcing FSC Controlled Wood (FSC-STD-40-005 V3-0), was approved by FSC’s Board of Directors in November 2015 and published on 18 December 2015. FSC International is conducting a series of online webinars to assist stakeholders in understanding the revised Standard ahead of its effective date, being 1 July 2016. The webinar series includes an overview of the Standard’s objective, scope and requirements, as well as an explanation of the rules governing transition from the current to the revised version of the Standard.
The webinar schedule can be accessed here. The first of four online modules will be held from 10-11 February 2016, with a number of sessions on offer. It will provide stakeholders with:
• an introduction to the purpose and contents of the Standard;
• an explanation of the process of transition from the current to the revised version of the Standard; and
• a 'Question and Answer' session facilitated by the staff of FSC International’s Controlled Wood Programme.
